About Studio Colette

Are all your products handmade?

Yes! Every piece is worked by my hands, thoughtfully, intentionally, and with care. This also means that every piece is unique and no two are exactly alike.

Where are your pieces made?

While a majority of my work is done in my small home studio in Odenton, Maryland, my wheel-thrown pottery pieces are created at my community studio of choice, Chesapeake Arts Center. This is also where all of my pottery, including my jewelry, is fired.

How often do you release new collections or restock sold-out items?

New collections come out a few times a year. Follow along on Instagram for sneak peeks and shop drop announcements.

Ordering & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept major credit cards, Square payments, and Venmo for Business. If you’re shopping in person, I can also take contactless payments or cash.

Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?

If you need to change or cancel your order, please reach out within 24 hours of placing it. Once work begins or your order has shipped, I may not be able to make changes, but I’ll always do my best to help.

Do you offer gift wrapping or gift sets?

Yes! Gift wrapping is available for an additional fee. All wrapping materials are compostable or recyclable, sustainable, and always carefully sourced so they look lovely and tread lightly on the earth.

Shipping, Pickup & Returns

Do you offer shipping or local pickup?

I offer shipping for jewelry, soaps, and crocheted pieces. Insured shipping and handling is included in the price. Once ordered, your piece will ship within 10 business days and generally arrive within one week to 10 business days after it is shipped. Pottery is currently local pickup only due to fragility. Local delivery is available in Central Maryland.

Where do you ship from, and do you offer international shipping?

I ship from Odenton, Maryland, USA. Unfortunately, I don’t offer international shipping yet.

What should I do if my order arrives damaged or there’s something amiss?

I package all pieces for shipping carefully, but if something arrives broken, send me photos of the broken piece with the packaging and I will make it right, whether that means a replacement or a full reimbursement.

What is your return or exchange policy?

Insured shipping and handling is included in the price. Once ordered, your pottery will go out within 10 business days and generally arrive within one week to 10 business days after it is shipped. I package all pieces for shipping carefully, but if something does arrive broken, send me photos of the broken piece with the packaging and you will be fully reimbursed.

Are custom-made or commissioned items returnable?

Unfortunately, these pieces are not returnable. But I go to great lengths to ensure that expectations are clear at the beginning and I share progress photos along the way!

Custom Work & Commissions

Do you take custom or personalized orders?

Yes! Lead times vary by product: pottery requires several months; soaps, jewelry, and crochet can be made more quickly. Reach out with your idea, and we’ll discuss feasibility and timing.

Product Care & Maintenance

Pottery

Hand wash with warm soap and water and a soft sponge recommended; top-rack dishwasher safe.
All food-contact glazes are non-toxic and safe for everyday use.
Avoid oven/stove use and sudden temperature changes (e.g., freezer to microwave).
Even glazed pottery can chip or crack if dropped. Handle with care.
Carved or unglazed areas are more delicate; avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods if you want to preserve the design.

Jewelry

Avoid harsh chemicals; store in a dry place.
Not recommended for prolonged water exposure.
To prevent accidental chipping, store ceramic jewelry flat, avoid dropping, and remove before activities like sports.
Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads.
Periodically check that the findings and jump rings are secure.

Crochet

Machine wash on gentle or hand wash using mild soap or detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
Lay flat to dry to maintain shape and prevent stretching. Avoid wringing.
Do not iron or tumble dry at high temperatures; cotton can shrink or distort.
Fold or roll items for storage; avoid hanging heavy cotton items when wet.
Cotton softens over time with regular use. This is normal and adds to the charm.

Soaps

Store in a dry, ventilated place between uses. Avoid leaving the bar in pooled water as this will cause it to dissolve faster.
Bars may sweat or change color slightly due to natural glycerin; this is normal and harmless.
For longevity, cut bars into smaller pieces and store unused pieces in a cool, dry place.
All soaps are environmentally friendly, 100% biodegradable, and gentle on skin.
